Silversea has opened bookings for its 2027 World Cruise, officially called “The Three Oceans”, and the itinerary is pretty incredible.

The voyage lasts 149 days, departing Los Angeles on 8 January 2027 and arriving in Copenhagen on 7 June 2027. During that time, guests will visit 80 destinations across 35 countries, crossing the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans aboard Silver Dawn.

It is the longest World Cruise Silversea has ever offered.

For anyone with the time, I honestly think this would be one of the best ways to see the world. You unpack once in Los Angeles and you do not have to think about packing again until you arrive in Copenhagen almost five months later.

Along the way there are 11 overnight stays, more than 50 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and 20 ports making their first appearance on a Silversea World Cruise.

It Goes to Places You Probably Wouldn't Book as a Separate Trip

One of the things I like most about this itinerary is that it does not just stick to the obvious places.

The west coast of Africa is a good example. The cruise calls in Angola, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, The Gambia, Senegal and Cape Verde, which are not destinations most people would build a whole holiday around.

Some are also a bit of a mission to get to, with limited flights and awkward connections. On this trip, you just sail in.

That is a big part of the appeal for me. You still get the places everyone wants to see, but you also visit parts of the world that would probably never make it onto your travel plans otherwise.

The Fare Includes Far More Than the Cruise

Prices start from around US$111,800 per person, which sounds like a huge amount until you look at what is included.

This is Silversea's All-Inclusive Plus fare, so you are not just paying for a suite onboard.

Depending on where you are travelling from, the fare can include international flights, private home-to-airport transfers, pre-cruise hotel accommodation, luggage handling, selected shore experiences, gratuities, Wi-Fi, port charges and butler service for every suite.

Premium wines, Champagne, spirits, speciality restaurants and laundry are also included, which is something you would definitely appreciate after living onboard for nearly five months.

Silversea also puts together exclusive events for World Cruise guests that are not available on its regular sailings, including private dinners and experiences ashore.

I'd Definitely Want a Balcony Suite

Personally, if I was doing this trip, I would book a balcony suite without thinking twice.

For almost five months, that suite is your home. Having your own outdoor space to sit with a coffee in the morning or a drink in the evening would be worth every penny.

Prices start from around US$111,800 per person, which works out at roughly US$750 per day over the length of the voyage. When you consider that includes accommodation, flights, transfers, food, drinks and a huge amount more, it starts to look surprisingly reasonable.

Life Onboard

Silver Dawn carries fewer than 600 guests, so this is nothing like the giant cruise ships most people imagine.

Every suite comes with butler service, there are multiple restaurants, a spa, generous outdoor deck space and Silversea's excellent S.A.L.T. culinary programme, which changes depending on where the ship is sailing.

After a few weeks I imagine you would know most of the crew by name, have your favourite table in the restaurants and settle into a daily routine. By the end of the voyage, I can see why so many people say the ship feels like home.

Who Books Something Like This?

Most people assume World Cruises are only for retired travellers, but that is not always the case.

Some guests take a sabbatical, some work remotely and others simply decide this is a better way to spend five months than flying from hotel to hotel around the world.

Trying to recreate this trip yourself would mean dozens of flights, hotels and transfers. Here, almost everything is taken care of before you even leave home.
